KIM Taek Soo/OH Sang Eun on Saturday gave themselves another chance to become winners of the Pro Tour Finals. Last year in Yokohama they lost in a very close final to WANG Liqin/YAN Sen (CHN) – now they are once more in the final at the DAWEI Grand Finals in Tianjin.

KIM and OH overcame the young German pair Timo BOLL/Zoltan FEJER-KONNERTH 4-1. The 1st game was very close and turned out to be crucial. The Germans were down 2-6, came back to 7-7 and even had a game point. After a great rally the Koreans survived with FEJER-KONNERTH missing a forehand top spin. After that the Koreans took the game 12-10.

The Germans evened to 1-1, but they could not reach the level they had on Friday when they beat the World Champions WANG Liqin/YAN Sen (CHN).

Eventually they lost the next three games to see the Koreans advance to the final.

“I did not feel as well as yesterday and I missed some easy points with my back hand. The Koreans play a good double so if you are not on top you are in trouble”, says Zoltan FEJER-KONNERTH.

The Koreans have to live with the fact that they are favourites in the final against CHEUN Yuk/LEUNG Shu Yan (HKG). The Hongkong pair played a thriller in the semi final against Aleksander KARAKASEVIC/Slobodan GRUJIC (YUG).

CHEUNG and LEUNG had four match points at 10-6 in the 7th game, but KARAKASEVIC/GRUJIC came back to 10-10. The Hongkong pair stayed calm though and took the last two points to 12-10.
