The match in women’s singles between LEE Eun Sil (KOR) and the young Chinese NIU Jianfeng  was a real cliff hanger. NIU – being  the favourite  after a lot of good results during the last year – had to go all the way to the 7th game before LEE surrendered.

LEE Eun Sil was not stepping backwards in front of NIU. She took the lead 1-0 and 3-2 as well. NIU evened to 3-3 but in the 7th and decisive game LEE took the lead once more. She even had a match point before NIU Jianfeng took the victory home13-11.

NIU faces in the quarter finals RYU Ji Hye (KOR) who easily overcame Viktoria PAVLOVICH (BLR)
