The ITTF has published its Annual Report covering all the major international table tennis events and key developments within the organisation relating to 2019.

In contrast with the current “new normal” that the whole world is living through, the 2019 Annual Report provides a reminder of much fonder times enjoyed by the sport before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Originally set to be distributed ahead of the Hana Bank 2020 ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships, the event’s postponement due to COVID-19 has led the ITTF to release the Annual Report today, in the build-up to its Annual General Meeting (AGM), which takes place on Monday 28th September 2020.

This is the second Annual Report released by the ITTF, after it was decided to introduce them at the 2018 AGM.

2019 was of course the year that Ma Long won his third straight World Championships men’s singles title. It was also the year that Liu Shiwen ended her 10-year wait for World Championships women’s singles glory, as she also celebrated her fifth career Women’s World Cup success.

These are just a few of the incredible, record-breaking and history-making moments that shaped the 2019 narrative and that all members of the table tennis family can enjoy reading about thanks to a neat review of all the major events from an unforgettable year for the sport.

There are also project updates with a clear focus on World Table Tennis (WTT), which will be responsible for all the sport’s commercial and events business from 2021.

World Table Tennis Day once again managed to unite people from across the globe in the name of table tennis, while there are also updates on TTX and the Global Home of Table Tennis.

There is the latest update on the ITTF’s five-year Strategic Plan, as well as department reports (Competitions, High Performance & Development, Marketing & Media, ITTF Foundation) and financial updates.
