The Women's Singles competition at the 2017 ITTF-Africa Cup has been narrowed down to the final four players, as the Moroccan city of Agadir hosted quarter-final action on Sunday 2nd July.

Egypt's Dina Meshref, Nigeria's Olufunke Oshonaike, alongside Yousra Helmy and Farah Abdel-Aziz, also from Egypt, the respective top four seeds, will vie for a place in the Women's World Cup to be staged in Markham, Toronto later this year.

Olufunke Oshonaike, 41, has stated her intent of a title challenge after the Nigerian star came through her quarter-final tie in style.

Taking on Algerian competitor Katia Kessaci, Olufunke Oshonaike put in a dominant display (11-6, 11-5, 11-3, 11-8) to move through to the last four.

Egypt’s Yousra Helmy provides the opposition in the semi-finals following her successful result against Islem Laid of Algeria.

The opening stages of the match were closely fought out by both players, but a composed performance propelled Yousra Helmy into the penultimate round of the event (11-4, 8-11, 11-9, 11-5, 11-6).

Defending champion Dina Meshref has kept her title challenge on track after she enjoyed another positive day in Agadir.

The Egyptian athlete made a slow start to her quarter-final encounter, as her opponent Sarah Hanffou claimed the opening game of the match.

However, Dina Meshref remained calm to win four consecutive games to seal victory over the Cameroon representative (4-11, 11-4, 11-9, 11-4, 11-5).

Farah Abdel-Aziz lived up to her fourth seed status by booking her spot in the last four of the Women’s Singles competition.

In one of the most unpredictable encounters of the day Farah Abdel-Aziz prevailed in five games against the fifth seeded player from Nigeria Offiong Edem (10-12, 11-8, 11-5, 11-8, 11-2).

At the semi-final stage Dina Meshref meets Farah Abdel-Aziz, Olufunke Oshonaike confroints Yousra Helmy.
