Located in the east of Belgium, the 2017 Hasselt International Youth Cup will be staged from Saturday 3rd to Monday 5th June; it will be the 25th time that the tournament has been staged.

No less to 600 players, representing 40 nationalities, have registered for the event; the icing on the cake for this year’s competition being the participation of a 20 player strong delegation from China.

They will arrive on Friday 26th May and will take part in a training camp alongside 30 players from Belgium. The group will be based in Molenheide and will visit both Brussels and Paris for sightseeing, as well as the Liebherr 2017 World Championship in Düsseldorf.

It is a tournament in which many of Belgium’s new generation have participated in the past; notably Laurens Devos and Florian Van Acker, who secured gold medals at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games have competed, as have the likes of Robin Devos, Cédric Nuytinck, Eline Loyen and Lisa Lung.

The tournament is very much the first step on the international ladder; a chance to gain experience and test skills against those from foreign shores.
