With the upcoming individuals World Championships set to commence on Monday 29th May in Düsseldorf, Germany the practice match between Sweden and England has been arranged by 2018 World Team Table Tennis Championships Halmstad organisation to serve as a warm up tie for the event.

The match will be played behind closed doors in Sweden at the Halmstad Theatre and will begin at 11.45am (CEST).

There is a rather interesting twist to the encounter with matches being decided across two games, while the end result will be determined by the number of games claimed by each team.

Table Tennis England stated in a report that Paul Drinkhall, Liam Pitchford, Sam Walker and David McBeath will feature.

England caught the attention of the world in 2016 with their fine performances at the World Team Championships, but the team of Drinkhall, Pitchford and Walker lost out to Sweden 1-3 in the group stage at the very same tournament.

Another point worth remembering is that Sweden will be competing in the Men’s Championship Division at the upcoming Liebherr 2017 European Championships having successfully negotiated the qualifying stages as one of the group winners, while England is set to feature in the Men’s Challenge Division.

The warm up match between Sweden and England will feature a live stream which can be viewed on the 2018 World Table Tennis Championships Facebook page.
