Also in attendance were members of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Cultural Relics in addition to representatives from several other departments.

Agreement signed

Notably the visit followed in the footsteps of Adham Sharara, the ITTF Chairman, who in July 2013 had instigated the transfer of the ITTF Museum to Shanghai.

Later in August 2014, the Museum opened officially following an agreement signed between the International Table Tennis Federation, the Chinese Table Tennis Association and the Shanghai City Board of Education.

Modern media

It is anticipated that the Museum will be fully operational by the end of 2017; pertinently to promote the facility the Shanghai Institute of Physical Education has commissioned a professional design department

At the helm of proceedings is Professor Zhu Shunlong, who explained to Thomas Weikert that he intends to introduce elements on modern media.
