INTERVIEW WITH WORLD CHAMPION TEAM CHINA

transcribed by Xiu Bao for the ITTF WEB

China won the Men's Team over France this year. Do you think you will win all titles this year like at the 43rd World Championships?

COACH CAI ZENHUA :
In the past few years, China's players have been the target of other teams worldwide. We did practice harder than ever and we had a very good preparation, but there are some strong teams this year. It will be difficult for us to win all titles this year.

Mr. Wang Tao, as the oldest player, what do you think of the younger players on your team.

WANG TAO:
Liu and Kong, both did very well in the finals against France, as in the previous matches. I have great faith in them, and they have gained enough skills to play any of the other teams. The young players from China have made great progress in the last few years. I believe that more young players will play in the next World Championships.

Mr. Liu Guoliang, you lost the first match against France. How did you prepare for the second match?

LIU GUOLIANG:
I was so nervous when I lost in the first match to Patrick, and I could not shake off my nervousness even in the second match, but my team mates and coaches encouraged me to forget the loss and start from zero.

Mr. Kong Linghui, you played the first match against France. After losing the first game, how did you change your strategy?

KONG LINGHUI:
I must thank coach Cai Zenhua. He convinced me that I could win the second game after I had lost the first. And, I started playing better and better. But, we must be honest, the French team played very well.
